Technical Data

Wool Structure

To understand our technical data, it is important to understand the complexities of the wool fibre

Our Wool has been Tested to NZ Standard 4222
for Loose Fill Insulation Materials

THERMAL RESISTANCE

CORROSIVENESS

MOISTURE ABSORBANCE

FIRE RESISTANCE

SOUND ABSORPTION

Thermal Resistance

Tested by BRANZ Test Report 325 for 'knopped' loose wool sheep fibre

A Thermal rating of R2.2 is achieved at a depth of 120mm

A Thermal rating of R2.7 is achieved at a depth of 150mm

A Thermal rating of R3.2 is achieved at a depth of 180mm

A Thermal rating of R3.6 is achieved at a depth of 200mm

A Thermal rating of R4.0 is achieved at a depth of 220mm

R-Value is the measurement of thermal resistance (R) between two surfaces

Fire Resistance

Tested by BRANZ Test Report FE 1649 Early Fire Hazard of Knopped Sheep Wool, Loose Fill Insulation

Ignitability Index                  (0-20)  =  0

Spread of Flame Index          (0-10)  =  0

Heat Involved Index             (0-10)  =  0

Smoke Developed Index       (0-10)  =  5

Moisture Absorbance

Tested by BRANZ Test Report 342 for 'knopped' loose wool sheep fibre

Moisture absorption of 8.4% by weight complied with maximum of 15% called for in NZS 4222

Corrosiveness

Tested by BRANZ Test Report 340 of Knopped Sheep Wool, Loose Fill Insulation

It was determined that the wool was 'noncorrosive' when tested in accordance with NZS 4222

Sound Absorbance

Tested by the Acoustics Testing Service, Department Architecture, THE UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND

Test Report T433/ATS

Standards Followed:

ISO 345 (1985)-for method

ASTM C423-84a - for NRC determination     A Noise Reduction Coefficient ( NRC)  of 0.85 was achieved
